Frequently asked questions
Q. How often should a swimming pool be maintained in Dubai?
Most residential villa pools in Dubai need weekly maintenance during summer (May–September) and bi-weekly maintenance during cooler months (October–April). Commercial pools, heavily-used pools, and pools without covers need weekly maintenance year-round. The required frequency depends on bather load, environmental exposure, and pool type; we recommend the right schedule after a free site assessment.
Q. How much does swimming pool maintenance cost in Dubai per month?
Annual Maintenance Contract pricing for a standard 8×4m residential villa pool ranges from AED 600/month (Standard package, bi-weekly visits, chemicals charged separately) to AED 2,200/month (Comprehensive package, weekly visits, chemicals included, annual equipment service, same-day priority callout). Commercial pools and pools with water features are priced separately. Request a customized AMC quote.
Q. What's included in a pool Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC)?
A KABCO Standard AMC includes scheduled bi-weekly visits with water testing, chemical balancing, surface cleaning (skim, brush, vacuum), filter backwash, equipment visual inspection, and a digital visit report after each service. Premium AMCs add weekly visits, chemicals included, faster callout response, and labour discounts on repairs. Comprehensive AMCs add annual chiller/heater service, annual filter media replacement, and same-day priority callout.
Q. Do you provide pool maintenance for pools you did not build?
Yes. About 30% of our AMC client base is pools built by other contractors. We provide a free condition assessment first: testing water chemistry, inspecting equipment, and documenting the current condition, then propose any corrective work needed alongside the ongoing AMC. No obligation to switch.
Q. What's the difference between pool cleaning and pool maintenance?
Pool cleaning is the per-visit removal of debris and dirt, skimming, vacuuming, brushing. Pool maintenance is the broader scope that includes cleaning plus water chemistry management, equipment inspection and service, filter and pump care, and ongoing pool health management. KABCO’s maintenance scope covers everything; for per-visit cleaning only, see our swimming pool cleaning page.
Q. How do you handle pool repair as part of maintenance?
Equipment failures, leaks, tile damage, and structural issues are addressed by the same KABCO team that handles routine maintenance, so there is no waiting for an external specialist. AMC clients receive labour discounts on repair work (10% Standard / 15% Premium / 25% Comprehensive) and priority response. We carry common parts in stock for same-day fixes on Premium and Comprehensive AMC tiers.
Q. What water chemistry parameters do you test?
Every visit includes calibrated digital testing of seven parameters: pH (target 7.2–7.8), free chlorine (1.0–3.0 ppm), total alkalinity (80–120 ppm), calcium hardness (200–400 ppm), cyanuric acid (30–50 ppm), total dissolved solids (<1,500 ppm above fill water), and combined chlorine. For salt-chlorinated pools, salinity is also tested (3,000–4,500 ppm). We use LaMotte, Hanna, and Lovibond digital meters – not test strips.
Q. Do you service pool chillers and heaters?
Yes. Chiller maintenance is one of the most overlooked but most expensive items on a Dubai pool, annual service prevents major failures. We service heat pumps, gas heaters, electric heaters, and combined heat-chill units from all major brands including Aquatemp, Calorex, Pahlén, Pentair UltraTemp, and Hayward HeatPro. Annual chiller service is included in our Comprehensive AMC and available as a one-time service for Standard/Premium AMC clients.
Q. How long does pool equipment last with regular maintenance?
With professional maintenance: pool pumps 7–12 years, sand filter tanks 10–15 years, cartridge filters 8–12 years, salt chlorinator cells 4–6 years, heat pumps 8–12 years, chillers 8–10 years, LED lights 8–15 years. Without regular service, lifespan typically halves and equipment failures often cause secondary damage (a failed pump can damage filtration; a failed chiller can cause water-quality cascades).
Q. How do I switch from my current pool maintenance company to KABCO?
Request a free condition assessment. We visit the pool, test the water, inspect all equipment, and document the condition. If any corrective work is needed (deferred maintenance the previous company missed), we propose it as a separate one-time service. Then the new AMC starts from your next scheduled visit. No obligation to switch, the assessment report is yours regardless.
